How do I know if pelvic floor physical therapy is right for me?
Check out this blog to see if you can benefit from pelvic floor PT.
Do you take insurance?
The Pelvic Practice is not an in-network provider with any insurance companies. All payment is collected at the time of service. We provide a Superbill which you can submit to your insurance company under out-of-network benefits for reimbursement.
What should I wear to my appointments?
You do not need to wear anything specific. Wear whatever makes you comfortable! Your physical therapist may have you demonstrate some stretches and exercises so keep that in mind.
What is an internal exam?
The internal pelvic floor muscle exam is unlike other internal pelvic exams you may have had with medical doctors. Our focus is to assess the pelvic floor muscle function and better understand if these muscles are contributing to your symptoms. For more information on the internal exam.
Do I have to have an internal exam?
This is a decision your physical therapist will make after taking note of your history and symptoms. Most evaluations require an internal pelvic floor muscle exam to get a complete picture of what is causing your symptoms. If you are not comfortable with an internal PFM exam, your therapist will be happy to discuss your options with you during the appointment. Internal pelvic floor muscle exams are only performed with the patient’s full knowledge and consent.
What happens if I am on my period?
You do not need to cancel your appointment if you are on your period. Speak with your physical therapist directly if you have personal concerns about attending appointments while on your period.
